Roseville, MN Jack NM 8 years We would be interested in a foster home with the intent to adopt. Jack is a totally typical samoyed. Greeted me with grin, wagging tail, little jumps. He is very sweet. He will do anything for a treat, has a lovely gentle mouth, and knows basic commands. He does pull on leash, but more trying to direct me than trying to pull me off my feet.

Tammy told me he had been an inside dog until they he moved outside about 3.5 years ago. Tammy has a friend with a small assertive dog, and Jack is afraid of it rather than aggressive.

As for temperament, he greeted very nicely right away. The little jumps went away after a few minutes, and he will do pretty much anything for a treat and a lot for a good scratch behind the ears. he let me look in his ears - lots of light-colored cerumen and small ear canals - handle his paws, but not look in his mouth. What I did see of his teeth looked in very good condition. He did not bark or talk. I brought him one of Audi's toys that Calvin never took to, and he was happy to have it, put it in his storage place, but let me pick it up a number of times. He has not encountered cats but Tammy doesn't think he'd do too well, as he likes to chase.

Jack is a true gem of a dog and very pretty. Pictures ADOPTION PENDING

Stevens Point Skye SF 3 years Skye is really sweet and is very friendly to all she meets. She came in as a stray into the Dunn County Shelter. Though she was somewhat timid and a picky eater when at the shelter, she is doing very well in her foster home - getting along with the other sammies there. She also developed an appetite - especially with a dollop of yoghurt on her food. She has a slight heart murmur though nothing serious. She will be spayed before placement. She was anemic and we are waiting to spay her until her blood values are back up - nothing a good home environment won't help. We are guessing Skye is around 3 yo. Pictures ADOPTION PENDING
Madison Harry & and Fiona NM & SF 3 & 5 years Fiona (in red, est. age 5 with the stouter muzzle) and Harry (in blue, est. age 3) were picked up as strays in Mn. They were placed in a foster home where they were crated day and night but they had to be moved again. A bridge placement was made and both dogs did well when confined to the kitchen. and they vied with one another for who got to go into the crate. (open door policy). Both are now doing well in their current foster home where training is a major activity (ring bell to go out, speak, and shake).

Both weighed 52 pounds just before Thanksgiving. they walk well on leash (Harry likes rodent a bit too enthusiastically), enjoy car rides, and crave affection which causes them to just glow and which they return in spades. They have short, thick, silky coats

Best we can tell, Fiona - who is a little more dominant - is mom to Harry. In fact, their foster dad now calls them Momma and Sonny. Harry is especially alert and highly intelligent and a skilled food thief. Harry and Fiona are still naughty and will take off running if given the opportunity. Because of their "flight risk" we are requiring a fenced in yard (which still doesn't contain them) and a household with no young to medium aged children. Once runners, always runners! Whoever adopts them will have to be continually vigilant to their penchant for taking off.

Both are very social with everyone but also interested in each other. Currently they are alternating spot on the sofa with dad and second place on the floor alongside. These could be YOUR snugglers.

Rockford Vanna SF 8 years Vanna is a good natured little pudge of a girl who wants her own family to love. She was dropped off at a shelter because the family was moving and didn't want to take her with them. They told the shelter staff that they had put her outside in February and hadn't let her back in the house. She came to us matted, dirty and pretty stinky, poor thing. It took a couple of us several hours of hard work to get her cleaned up enough to come into the house. She had untreated glaucoma in 1 eye. We took her to the vet right away who said it was past the stage of being painful, but also past her ever being able to see out of it again. In spite of that, she maneuvers in her new foster home just fine. With her weight issue, we did want to make sure that she didn't have a thyroid problem or diabetes ‐ thankfully all the bloodwork turned out fine. But the weight is still an issue; so, much to her dismay, she is on a diet. She does, however, love her twice daily walks, although she is still learning leash manners. She didn't respond to her name or seem to know any basic commands. She seems to enjoy it when I try to teach her, even if she doesn't get things right away. She just soaks up the attention. She follows me around when I'm home and sleeps alongside my bed at night. She is housetrained and except for the first couple of nights when she was very nervous has slept through the night without incident. Her past home had several children and they reported she was good with kids. She's very easy going with her 2 Samoyed foster siblings and would do fine in a house with other dogs as long as she still gets plenty of individual attention. Not sure about cats. Pictures
Milwaukee Reno NM about 8 years Best we can tell, Reno is a saddle back siberian with maybe a touch of sammy (he sure does have a pretty smile) , who was placed by PAS three years ago. Unfortunately Reno's owner's company was sold and bought by someone else; the company has chosen to change their hours. Because of the new hours, Reno would have to be alone for 13 hours a day without being able to potty.

Reno is a very laid back dog. He loves just being near his owner. He likes going for a ride in the car and he will be content just looking our the window or laying around. Reno would be a great addition to a retired person or a family where someone is home all the time. Since I've had him he has learned to sit, lay down, give paw and he will take food from your hand gently. He is great with kids and gets along well with other dogs. He will play fetch and his most favorite toys are squeaky ones. Anything that squeaks and the louder the better.

Stevens Point Princess SF 8 years Princess is a delightful little girl (20 in. to shoulder, 39-43 lbs) who appears to be a golden retriever/samoyed mix. She is spayed and will complete her vaccine boosters this week. She is good about grooming including, brushing, ears, teeth and nails. Was good in bathtub.Prefers not to have her tail touched, even petted.
Princess is housetrained, gentle and well behaved. She does well on a leash, although her siblings are teaching her the joys of bunnies. She knows come and sit and is working on down, stay and wait. She loves attention and will follow you around the house and is rather possessive when you walk in the door. Although she lived with 16 other dogs, she can be jealous and possessives about food (with dogs), space and her person. She has been timid about some experiences but is now joining in her siblings' dominance games and stays outside longer. When she has had enough she tries to get out of the fence and goes to the door. She digs a bit but stops when cocrrected and will jump a bit but is so small you hardly notice. She thinks everyone loves her and she loves them back, including dogs we meet on our walks. She is like a little beage,e running around and sniffing and wagging her tail like a perpetual motion machine.
Princess would love to be your only forever dog and learn the joys of toys, playing, snuggling, and the knowledge that another meal is waiting in the pantry. She is very affectionate with people and loves giving lots of kisses. Pictures

Although there may be no dogs currently available, we know from experience that it can, and does, change at a moment's notice. Good adoptive homes are SO hard to find. All rescue samoyeds need a new home. Playing Again Sams rescues dogs from Wisconsin, so if you are from Wisconsin we hope that you will be willing to wait for the right dog from Wisconsin to come along. Because transportation involves inherent stresses for all, it is always most desirable to place dogs locally. It is easier, of course, not only on the dog, but also on the adopter and the adoptive families. However, most rescue groups will work together to facilitate transporting a dog if necessary.

You may also want to check out the national samoyed rescue page for other dogs that may be available in other states.
